Floyd is standing close to the location of the original log cabin built on the farm in 1795. The low concrete block structure is built over top of the original dug water well which served the log cabin. Until longwall mining took place, the pump at this well provided all of the water for the barn (including a dairy operation during the 1960's) and the main house. This well has been dry ever since mining took place.
