Longwall mining damage image of James Kinney Farmstead main house, showing trenching at back porch. The original french drain was damaged by pre-mitigation trenching which was done around the house. Due to this lack of drainage and subsidence damaged basement concrete floors, the basement has flooded several times since mining occured.

The Summer Kitchen is in the background. Archaeologist Jamie Vosvic found important artifacts near this spot. Amazingly he spotted a part of a toy cement mixer truck in one bucket load and the rest of it in the next, what sharp eyes he has!! This was a toy probably lost in the 60’s, made in England, not Match Box toy but looks like one. This item like all the other findings were returned to the farmstead after cataloging along with a report of each artifact.
